Road Traffic Accident Solicitors Glasgow Whiplash Case Study - Case Studies
Thompsons road traffic accident solicitors represented the client, a 22-year-old man from Glasgow, who received a referral for our legal services via his father's union. He had been involved in a rear-end traffic light accident in Glasgow, in January 2019.
The background
The claimant was stationary at traffic lights on when his vehicle was struck from the rear at speed by another vehicle. The force of the impact caused the airbags to deploy in our client's car.
Despite feeling considerable shock, the client managed to get out of his vehicle to speak with the third party with a view to exchanging insurance details and other important post-accident details. He noticed that the motorist appeared drunk and was slurring his words. As a result he suspected that the third-party had been drink-driving so contacted the police.
The consequences
Our road traffic accident solicitors were in contact with the police and obtained CCTV of the crash from a nearby building. This footage supported our client's position that he was not at fault for the accident.
The accident caused the client's vehicle to sustain a dented tailgate, damage to panelling at the rear as well as smashed rear lights. His prescription spectacles were also broken in the incident.
More seriously, the accident left the 22-year-old with whiplash, mild concussion, and jaw and chin pain. His injuries left him unable to work for a week; his job involves a significant amount of driving and heavy manual handling. His symptoms did not begin to clear up until eight weeks following the accident.
The settlement
The defender admitted liability and a whiplash compensation settlement of £2,970.00 was paid via Thompsons Solicitors. Settlement was agreed on 13 August 2019.
