A man left disabled following a motorcycle accident has been awarded £650,000 in compensation. Antony Williams, 33, was on his way to work in Bristol when a tipper van being driven by Wayne Giles turned across his path, causing a head on collision between Mr Williams’ motorcycle and an oncoming car which had swerved to avoid the tipper. Mr Giles was prosecuted in 2007 for driving without due care and attention.
Mr Williams received multiple injuries in the motorcycle accident, including multiple fractures to his pelvis, nerve damage, a fractured back, a fractured right wrist and a minor brain injury. He still must use morphine patches to relieve pain as well as continuing to use a crutch.
He was an IT consultant at the time of the motorcycle accident but now has a permanent disability and is only able to work two days a week. He will also require future surgery. His wife witnessed the immediate aftermath of the motorcycle accident and received counselling for the scene she encountered.
The compensation, which represents loss of earnings, will go towards rebuilding Mr Williams' life, and providing a stable future for his wife and two children.
