Ineos Petrochemical Plant worker secures £23,000 compensation

Thompsons helped secure £23,000 compensation for Union member, Jeffrey McIlhenny following an accident at work.

At the time of the accident Mr McIlhenny was a scaffolder working for DSL Services.  While working nightshift one evening our client was dismantling scaffolding on the gantry of the Hydrocracker Ineos Petrochemical Plant when a steel pole fell through a gap in a steel plate jamming his thumb. Due to the time of night and poor lighting in the area he was unaware and unable see the gap in the steel plate.

Unfortunately due to the accident our client suffered a crush injury with associated fracture to his thumb, he required surgery to remove the tip of his thumb which has left him with a nail and pulp deformity.

Anne Marie Harbison who handled Mr McIlhenny’s claim said “Mr McIlhenny been left with a lasting injury due to this avoidable accident in his workplace. The other side previously put forward two smaller offers which were rejected.  I am pleased we could help secure Mr McIlhenny the compensation which he is entitled to.”
