My friends at Thompsons Personal Injury Solicitors are announcing a new, imaginative and fun way to offer students a No Win No Fee Internship at one of their offices in Scotland.

This takes me back to the days when I was an up and coming law student, every year me and my friends would be looking for a job for the summer…most of us would end up working in bars or local cafes which of course paid the bills but not much more.  Due to the unsocial hours we never really got a lot of socialising done and we certainly never got to use our legal skills which we spent hours in lectures learning!

Looking back we would have jumped at the chance to win a summer placement with one of Scotland’s top law firms.

When I heard my friends at Thompsons were offering students a summer placement at one of their Scottish offices I couldn’t help but turn green with envy, they don’t even need to get on a bus and go for an interview they can sit in the comfort of their own home write a blog post and get their friends to recommend it on social networking sites…….it really couldn’t be easier!

So who can enter?  Law Idol is open to all students at colleges and Universities throughout Scotland;

What subject will the post be on? All entrants can choose between No Win No Fee, Car Accidents or Accidents at Work;

How long should the blog post be? The post should be between 300 and 500 words;

Is there a deadline for submission? Yes, posts submitted after midnight on the 31st March 2011 will not be entered.

Competitions like this bridge the gap between the classroom and the working world, provide invaluable experience for students looking to get a head start in one of the most competitive industries.

I wish all the entrants the best of luck….if only little Thom was a few years older.
