Last week saw the European Commission hold its 4th annual Road Safety Day in Cyprus.

This year the conference, aimed at decreasing road traffic accidents within the European Union, focused specifically on youth road safety.

Statistically those between the ages 18-25 are twice more likely to be involved in fatal road traffic accident than other demographics of the population. 

Another shocking statistic is that in over 40% of fatal road traffic accidents a young driver is involved.

This year’s conference tackled strategic initiatives to lower road traffic accident deaths amongst youths. A new Road Safety facebook page was launched aimed at fostering debate and awareness amongst young drivers
