A child has recently received compensation after being injured on council property. He was injured while out playing with friends near his home.

At the time of the accident he had been in a garden area which was supposed to be maintained by the local council. He and his friends were running around and playing in the long grass in the garden.

Unfortunately, he ran into a stump of concrete which was hidden in the grass. It had been left over from a post which had been taken down some time earlier by the council.

The child sustained an injury to his knee as a result of this. He now has permanent scarring in the area and still experiences some discomfort.

His parents made a compensation claim on his behalf against the local council, on the ground that they had failed to properly maintain the area. The council agreed to settle the claim and the child has received £4,300 in compensation for his injury.
