Craig Jones recently received compensation after falling into an open manhole and sustaining severe injuries. He had been walking to work at the time of the accident.
As he had been walking he had failed to spot that the manhole had not been covered. This caused him to step into it and fall. As he fell down the manhole his ribs struck against the side of it. He managed to stop himself from falling right down it and to drag himself back up onto the pavement.
Mr Jones was taken to hospital where it was found that he had broken several ribs. This caused him severe pain and also prevented him from doing his job as a construction worker for some time.
As a result of this injury and the enforced time off work, he decided to make a compensation claim against the company responsible for the manhole. They admitted liability and were able to agree an out of court settlement with Mr Jones. As a result of this, he received £1,965 in compensation.
