It has been reported that a passenger of the Costa Concordia cruise ship who suffered personal injury has been offered a 30% discount on future cruises. The passenger has hit out at this offer as being “insulting”.

The Carnival Group, who own Cost Cruises stated on the company web site that they had not offered any discount on future cruises to passengers who were injured on the Costa Concordia.

American personal injury lawyers representing a number of passengers in claims for compensation have advised that they would be seeking a class action on behalf of all passengers they represent. They confirmed that they would be seeking compensation for personal injury, medical care, loss of earnings and psychological trauma.

Carnival Group have begun a civil claim against the Captain of the cruise ship Captain Schettino which is likely to prevent a quick resolution to the class action on behalf of the passengers.
