Scotland’s leading personal injury and employment law specialists, Thompsons Solicitors, have thrown their weight behind two major Midnight League events co-ordinated by the Coalfield Regeneration Trust and the SFA.
Thompsons will sponsor the Finals of the Coalfield Regeneration Trust’s Midnight Leagues at Airdrie FC’s Excelsior Stadium on September 18. They will also be supporting the Tri-Nation Home internationals which will see a team of the best players from the Scottish finals take on the best from England and Wales.
The Midnight League programme is run by the Scottish FA in partnership with the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, CashBack for Communities, local authorities and police forces. The Finals are the culmination of regular Midnight Leagues which are played, week in and week out in twenty Scottish coalfields areas.
Speaking about the events, Bruce Shields, Solicitor-Advocate and Partner at Thompsons Solicitors said:
“These are great events for Thompsons to sponsor because we have a real affinity with coalfield areas through our strong links with miners and the NUM.
“Midnight league football makes a huge contribution to the quality of life in former mining communities by engaging young people in a really positive way.
“The boys and girls who take part deserve to be involved in a showcase event, whether it is the thrill of playing finals in a big stadium or the honour of representing Scotland.”
Nicky Wilson Scottish Trustee of the Coalfield Regeneration Trust, said:
“We are delighted to welcome sponsorship from Thompsons Solicitors who are held in such high esteem throughout coalfields areas.
“Thompsons’ sponsorship will help make both the League Finals and the Home internationals extra special for the youngsters who take part.”
