A teacher who was hit by a car on his way to work has been awarded compensation totalling almost £20,000.
The victim was walking to a bus stop to travel to school when he was hit from behind by a passing vehicle. He sustained a head injury, fractured collar bone and suffered from anxiety as a result of the accident.
As a member of the teaching union NASUWT, he was able to access full legal support from specialist trade union lawyers Thompsons, who intimated a claim on his behalf. The driver who caused the accident admitted liability and following medical reports settlement was agreed out of court for a sum of £19,800. Thompsons Solicitor Laura McGee said: “We were delighted to help our client secure the compensation he deserved following such a traumatic ordeal. Due to the nature of the collision, our client was left feeling extremely anxious which made his recovery more difficult and I’m pleased the settlement figure reflected this.“
