The Health and Safety Executive has released figures showing that the number of people who have died during the course of their employment has fallen to a record low.

The figures released by the Health and Safety Executive showed that between 1st April 2009 and 31st March 2010 151 people died at work. The average number of people who died at work in the previous 5 years was said to be 220 per year.

The Health and Safety Executive reported that agriculture was the most unsafe industry in Britain and highlighted the importance of industries like agriculture and construction using safety precautions and warning signs to make sure employees avoid danger.

Although the number of people who had died during the course of their employment has fallen 151 it is clear more needs to be done to reduce this figure further.

151 people lost their lives last year during  the course of their employment last year and 151 families have suffered as a result.
