About David
David originally joined Thompsons in 2008 having trained and qualified at the firm whilst representing the interests of our Trade Union clients.
After a few years in the wilderness having moved on from the Firm in 2015, David returned in 2019 and now heads up and manages our Road Traffic Team.David is based within our Glasgow Office.
In addition to overseeing the running of the Department, David also progresses his own cases from pre-litigation to Proof ensuring each client’s case is robustly prepared from day one.
David’s role is principally to ensure cases are resolved as seamlessly as possible always achieving the best results for his clients and delivering the best client care.David also has a Business Development role within the Firm and routinely works alongside our business partners and other organisations who utilise our services.
In addition to his work at Thompsons, David is also a Tutor at The School of Law at Strathclyde University where he tutors aspiring lawyers studying the postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
Expertise
Since qualification, David has been a lawyer for over 14 years specialising in representing the interests of injured clients, never insurance companies.
David regularly appears in Court and is an experienced litigator appearing at Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland including the All-Scotland Personal Injury Court. David has also ran numerous cases in the Court of Session.
David has considerable experience of dealing with road traffic incidents including cases concerning catastrophic injury, credit hire and property damage. He has also achieved a number of successful results at Proof involving clients injured as a consequence of low velocity impacts.
In addition to road traffic work, David also has experience in representing those clients injured at work as a consequence of workplace accidents and occupational disease including - Occupational Deafness, Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Lung Disease as a consequence of asbestos exposure.
David has also represented those clients before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority who have been injured as a consequence of a crime of violence including assault, attempted murder and sexual abuse.
David also successfully represented a number of victims of the Manchester Arena Bombing in 2017.Qualifications
David is a graduate of both the University of Glasgow, where he obtained his LL.B (Hons) degree in 2007, and The University of Aberdeen where he obtained his Diploma in Legal Practice.

David is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS).
