About John

John qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and specialised in Court of Session litigation with Edinburgh law firm Balfour & Manson.   John thereafter joined Gillespie MacAndrew LLP where he continued his work as a litigator in many forums, including Court of Session, Sheriff Court, Lands Tribunal, Immigration Appeals Tribunal and Employment Tribunal.  During this time, John also developed a practice and keen interest in employment law.  In 2015 John went on to become a court practitioner and employment lawyer with Morgans solicitors, and in 2017 joined Glasgow firm TC Young to further specialise in the field of employment law.  John joined Thompsons in 2023 as a solicitor in our Public Inquiry Team in which he will represent workers’ interests in the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry.
