If you or someone close to you has sustained an injury in a car accident that has occurred on the roads of Dundee or in the surrounding areas, the car accident claims team in Thompsons' Dundee office can help you secure compensation for the following:
- Pain and injury
- Lost earnings
- Loss of future earnings
- Medical expenses
- The cost of specialist equipment
- The help provided to you by your family
There are a number of common factors involved in road accidents in Scotland, but each claim for compensation is unique and we always listen carefully to the circumstances of your case and how the injuries have affected you.
Our funding model ensures that you have access to justice on a No Win, No Fee basis. This means that unless you win your case, you pay nothing at all and therefore incur no financial risk.
Accidents in Tayside
In 2017/18, in Tayside, 23 people sustained fatal injury in road accidents – 5 more than the 2013/2017 average figure. Serious road accident statistics were also up on the average at 148 in 2017, compared with the 2013/2017 average which was 143.*
In Dundee city specifically there was 1 fatal road accident in 2017 and 33 incidents which caused serious injuries.*
Furthermore, although during the period there was a decline in the number of recorded driving offences in Tayside, there was a rise in the incidence of careless driving and speeding offences.
"In Tayside someone is killed or seriously injured on the roads every week and that is unacceptable," commented a spokesperson with road safety charity Brake. "Positive progress in the reduction of phone use behind the wheel indicates another welcome trend, however, dangerous driving and speeding offences remain stubbornly high.
The spokesperson added that all road injuries are preventable and a more concerted effort from a national policy level, as well as an increase in roads policing, is needed in order to make roads safe."
Scottish Government Targets
In June 2009 the Scottish Government defined its national road accident casualty reduction targets for 2020. Dundee has so far reduced the number of casualties by 44% so is hopefully on track to reach its stated 40% target as long as road accident trends continue to go down.
However, although it reduced its rate of serious accident injuries by 49%, Dundee failed to reach its official Scottish Government target of 55%.
All Road Users
Regardless of whether you are a driver, a passenger, a cyclist, a pedestrian or other road user, the car accident team in our Dundee office can help you receive the amount of compensation to which you are entitled.
We can even help in cases where you may be partially responsible for your injuries – for example, if you are deemed 40% responsible for the accident, you will receive 60% of the compensation you would have received had you borne no responsibility. We can also help in cases where injuries were caused by an uninsured or hit-and-run driver.
